We're safely settled in Derbyshire now. With one slight falter (actually a refusal to get involved) at the beginning of the trip (within a mile of Ceri and Shirley's) we managed the rest of the trip without argument or missing a beat - despite horrific traffic on the M6 making crawling a speedy option.
The internet connection here is vastly superior to the Welsh reception - I actually gave up even trying over the past two or three days. That, in part, probably had more to do with the fact that the swollen eye became two partly closed ones and a diagnosis of conjunctivitis - on top of the heavy head cold, which I'm still fighting off.
Anyway it seems I managed to keep it to myself in Wales, so am hoping the same can be said for Derbyshire. It is SO frustrating, because I don't like to be hands on with children when I'm that contagious.
I'll be here for just under a week - then head back towards London to meet up with my"lift" to France for the family get-together. Dean and Gabriel are following a day behind me ... so it will give me a good chance to get to know the little boys really well by then - despite this initial hiccup.
Tomorrow the plan is to go wool shopping for me to knit one of the boys a winter jersey - on to the swimming pool to watch the various achievements in the pool and then, possibly, to the movies to see Cars II. Fortunately I've seen Cars I on at least two occasions so should be able to keep up!!!
The weather has taken a turn for the (slightly) better, but Gabriel tells me that the average in France at the moment is mid to late 20's which seems more springlike. I still refuse to don a bathing costume and have no intention of even getting my feet wet. Time will tell.
Meanwhile, au revoir mes amis! See? Bilingual as well as gorgeous! x
Hello my precious. Good to see that you are carrying on the tradition of eye swelling and infection. I am so disappointed that there aren't photos to match the description. I do laugh aqt the possibilities though.
ReplyDeleteBring on the holiday in France. How exciting. I think that you should don the cossie. Who cares? Come on now you have a swollen whatsit, swollen eyes and what can top that?
Miss you lots Susan. We didn't have the holiday knitting club so it was a bit quiet. I had a conference in Nelson and missed the deep snow too. There you go. Don't even want to talk about the other things that have been going on in good ol Chch but at the moment things have been quieter. Thank you Jesus.
We are all good. I did go into RICCARTON mALL TODAY TO THE LOO, CAFE AND pUMPKIN pATCH BUT ALL ARE ON THE OUTER RIM OF THE MALL.Yeah me. Doint know what the capitals are about . Call it a jerky finger.
We can hear birds at night and in the morning again so maybe the weather will warm up soon.
Blessings and love
